There were two Red-necked Grebes over a mile apart at Chatfield SP this morning, both feeding amid flocks of Western Grebes on the Jefferson County side, though visible from Douglas, too. One was off the Massey Draw Picnic Area and the other was south of the Swim Beach. I didn't see anything else of special note in the park and it was pretty windy. But 4 Canvasbacks off the Platte inlet were my first in the local area this season.
-- Near sunrise a Rough-legged Hawk was riding the wind above the Lyons formation hogback in South Valley Park.
As I type a Townsend's Solitaire is perched in my front yard.
