[cobirds] Lesser Black-backed Gull, Ft. Collins, Larimer

Hi Cobirders,

I visited Portner Reservoir (in Fossil Creek Park on South Lemay Ave.)
this morning between 11am - 12 noon. It was about 50% ice-free. There
was a nice mix of waterfowl and gulls present. A hundred or so gulls
were on the ice. They were mostly Ring-billed, but also perhaps a dozen
Herring and two handsome adult Lesser Black-backed Gulls were in the
mix. Also, one Mute Swan was there along with the usual Redheads,
Ring-necked Ducks, American Wigeon, Mallards and American Coot. There
were many hundreds of white-cheeked geese of both species coming and
going as well. Male Red-winged Blackbirds were calling from the cattails
along the edge, perhaps setting up their territory early on this
beautiful and unseasonably warm February day.
