Hey all, I gleaned this from the Oregon Listserve. It may prove helpful to some of you:
While the earlier information about Knopf replacing the unsatisfactory 1st printing of the Second edition of the Sibley guide was erroneous, there is
some good news. If you ordered the book through Amazon, they will replace it.
I saw this on the Texas listserv this morning and just heard back from Amazon that it is legit. If you purchased your 2nd edition (1st printing) Sibley Guide to Birds
through Amazon and the copyright page has a printing date of March 2014, then you can contact Amazon and get your copy replaced with the
July 2014 printing (darker font and fixed colors for some birds). Just look up the order number associated with your book under "My Account" and call [888-280-3321] or email customer service.
I just got off the phone with Amazon and because I pre-ordered the book way back in November of 2013 they can't "replace" it. So instead they told me
they would issue a credit for what I paid for the book and told me to order
a new copy which will now be free, given my credit. Five stars for Amazon customer service! Too bad Knopf would not do right by us the first time.
