My family and I heard a strange rhythmic sound Saturday night, Feb. 14th, which we then decided was either a Northern Pygmy-owl or Saw-whet owl.
My husband and I went out to try to find it Sunday in the conifers in the area where we heard the call -- no luck. My husband woke me at 2:00 am on Monday Feb 16 to tell me the owl came to us! Luckily he was able to take a short movie and I was able to observe the owl under our deck for about 10-15 minutes before it flew off to go after one of the many voles that run around in this area. The movie and a photo can be see here at Flickr
