[cobirds] Tundra Swans at Holcim Wetlands, Barn Owl fly-by thru Florence River Park and heard the Black Phoebe call, Harris's Sparrow in Canon plus a Golden and a Bald Eagle-all yesterday

Yesterday was a very good birding day starting with a Harris's Sparrow in Canon City that I have seen briefly several times but no good pics until yesterday.  Then I spotted a Barn Owl flying through Florence River Park-it flew 30 or so feet off the ground over the wetland area from east towards the west as it went out of sight-sighting only a few seconds so photos not possible.  I looked extensively in the area for it but could not refind.  Though I have heard them call I had not seen a Barn Owl in Fremont County until this one.  I heard the Black Phoebe call a few times in Florence River Park but believe it was on the other side of the wetlands where not easily seen.  Also had an adult Golden Eagle fly over and land on a utility pole across the river.

The two Tundra Swans were still at Holcim Wetlands as of yesterday. I have watched, from the parking lot above the pond, the swans both feeding in the pond and spending a lot of time sleeping with their heads tucked behind--always on the north side away from disturbance. And an adult Bald Eagle soared circles over the wetlands as it looked for prey.  Interestingly the Tundra Swans had been sleeping when the Bald Eagle flew above but both untucked their heads and necks to be aware while the eagle was in the area.

I have added a couple more pics of the Tundra Swans plus photos of the Harris's Sparrow to my Birds and Nature blog
