[cobirds] Loveland Recreation Trail--Larimer

Deb Evers

W
ent to bird along the flood ravaged Loveland Recreation Trail this morning with Joan Eggum Skogen. The habitat took a beating for sure! Heartbreaking! But the birds are slowly returning this spring. Some woodpeckers (Northern Flickers and some  Downeys), some Chickadees and Nuthatches and a few of the other expected birds. Near the dam area on the Big Thomspon (east of Wilson Ave) we first heard and then spotted a male Eastern Phoebe. His call was distinctive and he was looking for "Love!" The same area sheltered an Eastern Phoebe last season. Wonder if it was the same one?
