Fort Collins Audubon sponsored a nice little field trip to Douglas Reservoir this morning, but with lighter attendance than usual. The four of us that had the good sense to show up were treated to an Osprey dive right in front of us (successful), a California gull trying to gulp down a fish that was a wee bit too big, three combative Kingfishers (one of which was NOT welcomed by the other two), a pair of Common Loons, a very cooperatively perched Loggerhead Shrike, and a slightly less cooperative Merlin.
