Continues slow…..we are asking 1) Where did the adult warblers go and 2) Where are the large numbers of White-crowned Sparrows and Juncos? Here’s the breakdown of the 16 new birds banded today:
Black-capped Chickadee 1
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 2
Townsend’s Solitaire 1 (FOS…..we usually catch about 1 each year)
Hermit Thrush 1
Grey Catbird 1
Orange-crowned Warbler 2
Yellow-rumped Warbler, Audubon’s 1
Song Sparrow 2
Lincoln’s Sparrow 3
House Finch 1
House Sparrow 1
Open Wed through Sun, weather permitting. Thurs we are doing Science in Action with DMNS (simulcasting to students in classrooms around the country), which is really exciting but not a great day to try to see birds at the banding station. We will take the station down at the end of the day on Sun.
