I call this time of the year June Gloom. Migration is over and the hummingbirds(Rufous and Calliope) have yet to start their southern migration. This year, I've had the fortune of enjoying Mountain Chickadees nesting in our front yard in SW Lakewood. These guys have driven out both our Black-capped Chickadees and House Wrens. Does anyone out there have any information on how uncommon this nesting location is? The Bob & Bob book has a record from Boulder in the 70's and one from Wheat Ridge in 1982. Thanks for any information you can provide of these Chickadees nesting east of the foothills!
