[cobirds] Hygiene, Boulder County, June 8th

Hello, Birders.

After a night spent mammaling and mothing, but not birding, in Rocky Mountain National Park, Larimer County, Hannah and Andrew and I detoured this afternoon, Saturday, June 8th, at the 61st/63rd Street Bridge over the St. Vrain River, a bit northwest (upstream) of Hygiene, Boulder County. There we heard at least two, probably three, and maybe even four RED-EYED VIREOS. Surround-sound! We also heard and saw the long-present EASTERN PHOEBE. So a rather "eastern" feel to the place. But then a WESTERN WOOD-PEWEE called, and a LESSER GOLDFINCH flew over. For sure, there's a delectable east-meets-west aspect to this bucolic, broadleaf birding hot spot. CEDAR WAXWINGS aplenty. Finally, I thought I several times heard a distant Least Flycatcher, but I wasn't sure, what with the distance and all the noise from the raging St. Vrain River.
