This the Colorado Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, December 12 at 12:30AM  sponsored by Denver Field Ornithologists.

Rare, out of place and out of season species of note include:  (* indicates new information on this species; CAPITAL LETTERS are used to identify very rare species as listed by the Colorado Bird Records Committee)

PINK-FOOTED GOOSE

Note this is an extremely rare vagrant to Eastern North America; almost unheard of in Western North America.  Steve Mlodinow found the bird aprox. 10 AM yesterday and subsequently posted a thorough summary on previous sightings and detailed rationale for the Colorado Bird Records Committee to ponder.  There is no guarantee this is a wild bird; but this might be your only chance to see one.

The bird is in Longmont, Weld County.  Location updates were reported all day yesterday.  It spent most of the day in the SW corner of a large pond adjacent to Idaho Creek Wildlife Area and was typically best seen from along Weld County Road 7, approximately 1 mile south of State Highway 119.
