[cobirds] Birds I saw While Looking for Gyrfalcon (Not Found) [Weld]

Hi all

I looked for the Gyrfalcon as well on Saturday.  I did not find traveling many roads. I ran into three other groups of birders who did not find as well. Still a great day for "other" raptors ... :-) ... in my searching:
  • Prairie Falcon - 4
  • Merlin - 1
  • American Kestrel - 6
  • Ferruginous Hawk - 3 (One dark morph)
  • Northern Harrier - 3
  • Golden Eagle - 2
  • Red-tailed Hawk - 5
  • Bald Eagle - 2
On Sunday ...
  • Stewart's Pond [La Salle]: The 1,000s of Snow Goose have left after their two week stay, only one yesterday among the throngs of Canada/Cackling and a few Greater White-fronted Goose and usual waterfowl along with 8 Bald Eagle (6 together in one tree on north). The other large bodies of water attracting enormous bird populations are: Woods Lake [Severance], O St/83rd Street Gravel Pit [Greeley] and Windsor Lake [Windsor]
  • Thomas Reservoir [Mead]: "Harlan's" Red-tailed Hawk
