At 8:30 today at Barr Lake near Visitor's Center in the cottonwood facing the bird feeders was a juvenile American Goshawk, with a heavily vertically striped breast, prominent white oval spots on the brown back, and a white eyebrow. Yellow eye. Tail was barred , and some white feathers stuck out on underside coverts. Larger than a Cooper's. Stayed perched while we scoped it for over 15 minutes, but when feeders put out around 9am became active chasing birds. Have poor quality cell phone photo. New bird for us at this location.
