Might be easier to park at the historic building East just before the Turn into the parking lots at Valco ponds.  There is a bridge that is north of the parking lots there from the trail. Go over the bridge along the trail north until you arrive at the gravel pit.  Most likely need a scope. Shortest distance if lugging a scope.
