[cobirds] Aleutian Cackling Goose

I've been looking closely at geese at the Monte Vista Refuge lately. With many being close viewing, I photographed one that has the white ring at the base of its neck, somewhat indicative of Aleutian Cackling Goose.  However, an older edition of Sibley states that the white ring is...."typical of this population (Aleutian) but occurs infrequently in all populations (of Canada and Cackling geese). Anyone have a more current source of info on this population of Cackling Geese?
