Re: [cobirds] Bird Finder

Hey guys,
The BirdsEye app I've been using for years ties into your (and everybody else's) eBird data to show you what species have been seen nearby AND what nearby species you need for your life or year list. With each species, it shows a graph of peak occurrence/adundance by month. It is a monthly subscription but well worth it to the traveling birder. Its filters allow you to set for sightings within the last week, 2 weeks, or month and within 1 mile, 5 miles, 10 miles, 25 miles or 50 miles. There are photos and sounds in addition to the abundance graphs, and locations aren't restricted to hotspots. There are packs to purchase that open it up to world birds too. I have no connection to the app developer but am just an extremely satisfied customer. Check it out!

Hey - that's cool!  The best feature IMO is that you can click on a species and then see where the best spots are to find them by month.

For example, if you're looking for Dusky Grouse in May within 50 miles of Colorado Springs:

Or if you want to find a Chukar on the western slope in June:

It does appear that it is limited to showing eBird hotspots.  Clicking on one will take you to the eBird hotspot.  The feature is similar to the eBird species maps, but it does give you a frequency/confidence that eBird does not.  However, it does lack showing all non-hotspot locations that you'd find on eBird.

Thanks for sharing.

Wonder what birds are in your area?
Michael Fogleman developed this cool app that draws information from ebird.
Just drop in a zip code and likely birds based on probability will populate.
