[cobirds] Please support CFO's new Colorado Birding Challenge!!

The Colorado Field Ornithologists invite you to participate in the first annual Colorado Birding Challenge on May 8, 2021.  The objectives of this county-based, Big Day event are:

1. Raise funds to restore degraded grasslands in northern Mexico to improve habitat for wintering grassland birds whose populations are declining due to decreasing habitat, and build at least one radio telemetry tower in Colorado to help track the migratory routes, breeding sites, and wintering locations of threatened grassland bird species.
2. Provide a fun, recreational event for the Colorado birding community and enable more people to engage in bird conservation.
3. Generate eBird data for all 64 counties in Colorado on the same day.

Go to https://cobirds.org/CFO/COBC/ to learn more about the event and to register a team of 2-4 members competing in one of four categories, or to register as a non-competing team or individual, or to join a team with openings. Registration is free for CFO members. Non-members can also participate. See website for details. About 20 teams have already registered. Let's double that number this week!

Help conserve our threatened Colorado grassland birds by pledging to sponsor a team or by making a general donation for conservation at https://cobirds.org/CFO/COBC/Pledge.aspx.

100% of funds collected from donations will be used to support projects managed by the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies. Learn more about these projects at https://cobirds.org/Conservation/.

Thanks for your support,

Nick Komar
CFO President

PS As we get the word out for this major CFO event/fundraiser, please excuse cross-postings.
