Hey, everybody. Here's more on the Feb. 7, 2016 trip that Andrew Floyd and I took to the Denver Zoo and City Park, Denver County:

More photos, basically, and additional commentary.
In more recent bird news, the Waneka Lake neighborhoods are now completely overrun with bushtits. And Waneka Lake itself, or what once was Waneka Lake, is now overrun with dredging equipment.

Hello, Birders.Yesterday afternoon, Sunday, Feb. 7, Andrew Floyd and I had pretty much the whole Denver Zoo to ourselves. Well, us and the animals. I wonder why... ;-)We found a number of interesting birds, including an apparent mottled duck x mallard hybrid, a white-throated sparrow, 8 common grackles, a merlin, 13 Indian peafowl, and 2+ brown creepers. Over at nearby City Park, a graylag goose consorted with the cackling geese and Canada geese, and Ferril Lake was aswarm with noisy northern shovelers, the males' pea-green heads aglow in the setting sun. Call it the green flash, haha.Photos and audio of the Denver Zoo goodies here:
