I had a productive day birding in the Salida area yesterday, May 19. There was a breeding plumage Palm Warbler at the southeast corner of Sands Lake. At Frantz Lake I found two Northern Waterthrushes along inlet water ditch. Another Northern Waterthrush was seen on the shore of a small, algae-choked pond next to the Arkansas River just north of Frantz lake. Also at this pond were a Black Phoebe, a Sora, a Snowy Egret and several White-faced Ibises.
