[cobirds] Nightjars

Greetings All

The tail length of the Crow Valley nightjar is most difficult to ascertain in relationship to the wings as the tail was drooped straight downward. The crown (dark center, gray laterally) and to me the back pattern both look just fine for Common Poorwill and wrong for Whip. I don't have a field guide with me at work, and using the internet for such things can be tremendously frustrating, but methinks this bird is/was a Common Poorwill
