I visited two of the large willow carrs just north of Bristol Head west of Creede in the San Juan Mountains yesterday (June 30). In addition to the expected species, I found two male Brewer's Sparrows singing short songs in patchy alpine willows ~1-2 m tall at ~11,700 ft (37.812777, -107.072592). Full bird list for the site included Swainson's Hawk, Northern (Red-shafted) Flicker, White-throated Swift, Dusky Flycatcher, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Mountain Bluebird, Hermit Thrush, American Robin, (Slate-Colored) Fox Sparrow, (Mountain) White-crowned Sparrow, Lincoln's Sparrow, Brewer's Sparrow, and Wilson's Warbler.
