Re: [cobirds] Chipping Sparrow Breeding Zone in Littleton?

Lynne,

The elevation is not unusual per se. Chipping Sparrow is local and very patchily distributed as a breeder in the southern region of the urban metro area, and at some localities they seem only sporadically present to nest, while at others they are very regular.

I have a juvenile Chipping Sparrow and at least 3 adults in my yard today - Littleton, east Jeffco at ~5600'. The adults have been around since May. I normally associate them with nesting higher in the foothills. Is this lower elevation usual?
