First, CPER is chockful of wet spots from last week's 2.5 inch rain deluge. Birds seen or heard at these wet areas include: Black-necked Stilt, Greater Yellowlegs, Killdeer, Mallard, Lark Bunting, both longspurs, Brewer's, Grasshopper and Lark Sparrow, Red-tailed, Swainson's and Ferruginous Hawk, Horned Lark, Western Meadowlark, Pronghorn and Coyote. Water route is starting from CR 37/114 follow 114 east as you approach 45 you'll see various waters, continue east past 49 to 53 to 108 to 49 to 102 ending .5m past 41. Greater (5) and Lesser Yellowlegs (1), Wilson's Phalarope, Black-necked Stilt (18) and Stilt Sandpiper (1) at CR 59 marsh.
Seven Burrowing Owl at CR 33 btw 98/100 dog colony. Park just sout of red storage container on east. Look down the north goat yard fence line to end. Look at about 20 yards north of the fence for burrow. Adults usually on goat fence line.
Nine Burrowing Owl at CR 59/74 NW dog colony. Go north on CR 59 to just past the red metal corner post in middle of colony. Burrow just west of it, adults usually hanging out on ground nearby. Continue north to east-west fence line on west. There is a singular taller post in dog colony that adult frequents--burrow is just south of the post.
