Loveland CBC was held on Jan 1 in mild weather except a little too windy. We tallied 97 species, with no new species. Highlights included Common Loon (2), Long-tailed Duck, Glaucous Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull (6), Iceland (Thayer's) Gull (7), six species of owls, Gyrfalcon, Eastern Bluebird (9), American Pipit and Lapland Longspur. We missed some expected species like Horned Lark, Sharp-shinned Hawk and Golden-crowned Kinglet. Many thanks to Denise Bretting, who coordinated the event this year, and the 71 observers who participated.
