The dark mask on the face, esp. in front of the eye, combined with the gorget feather color are good indicators of a young male Ruby-throated Hummingbird. The hints of bright emerald green on the head and back are also supportive features. Excellent find.

A hummingbird just showed up at our feeder in North Boulder (Riverside Ave/ Redwood Ave). Not being familiar with fall hummers in the west I'd be grateful for assistance with identification. Photos follow below.
Red-yellow spot on throat. Lacks extensive specklings on throat. Throat distinctly white compared to dusky-dirty chest. Bill very slightly decurved. No white eyeline, but white spot behind the eye. Grayish flanks (perhaps a suggestion of buff). White on outer ends of tail feathers. Immature male broad-tail?
