[cobirds] December Birds, Woodland Park area, all 5 junco subspecies

Woodland Park Yard Area

Highlight again in December was the juncos. Had all 5 subspecies in yard area on 12-7, 12-18 and 12-22. Regular good numbers of Gray-headed, Pink-sided and Slate-colored, with one Oregon and one White-winged joining flock on those dates. One Oregon also seen on 12-2 and 12-19.

Starling, flock on 12-20
Pygmy and White-breasted Nuthatch, a few regular thru month
House Sparrow, 1M on 12-21, new for yard list
Clark's Nutcracker,  yard area on 12-6, 12-7, 12-10, 12-11, 1 on Elder-Phen Trail on 12-21, near Divide
Mountain Chickadee, flock of about 10 on 12-10 along with one Black-capped Chickadee
Golden-crowned Kinglet, 1 on Lovell Gulch Trail, Woodland Park, on 12-6
American Tree Sparrow, one on 12-19
Red Crossbill, a couple flyover on 11-30 at Red Rock Canyon Open Space area near Manitou Springs
Bald Eagle, 2 adults on 12-1 feeding along South Platte River near Lake George
American Dipper, 1 on 12-1, singing, along South Platte River near Lake George
