[cobirds] Bird Conservancy of the Rockies - Barr Banding Report 8/23/25

The lake area was hopping with shore birds today, but the "woods" were very quiet - we caught a grand total of 7 birds - 1 Willow Flycatcher, 1 Lazuli Bunting, and 5 Northern House Wrens.  All were hatch year birds, and the Lazuli and the Wrens were very young.

Many thanks to our visitors, who took the lack of songbirds in stride!  We showed off the few birds we had and then grabbed a scope and went around to the other side of the walkway and checked out the shore birds!

Our visitor hours: Weekends we will run 3 sessions, at 8, 9, and 10 a.m.  Weekdays (Tues through Fri) there will be a 7:30 to 8:30 session.   These are small group sessions (15 or fewer visitors), and a great way to learn more about the species that move through the front range in the fall.  There is a $7 fee and registration is required - click here to register.
