Very little bird movement in the morning with things picking up by the afternoon. It's a good year for Northern Waterthrush here in Ouray County. Both yesterday and today saw an adult male in the nets. We had two new species today (Virginia's Warbler and Cedar Waxing), bringing our total species count up to 16! The waxwings have been in the area, but they tend to stay up higher away from the nets. However, we're hoping to catch a few more warblers in the coming days, so hopefully this new VIWA is a good sign for what's to come. Both of our recaptures today are from previous days this season, so it looks like they may stick around for a little bit.
