Nina Ogilvie and I saw two Baird's sparrows near the livestock pond where Curtis turns into Drennan around 4pm on 9/5. We also saw 11 Yellow headed blackbirds amongst the cattle around the pond. Three Cassin's kingsbirds, two Swainson's hawks, one Northern harrier, two Wilson's warblers and two Northern mockingbirds were other highlights.
It appears that there'll be one less Cassin's kingbird as we found one sitting on Drennan road west of Hemmingway that had been hit by a yellow car (paint on its beak) and had a wing injury. It was transported to EWRC in Ellicott for evaluation.

Subject: [cobirds] Baird's Sparrow, El Paso county
We saw one Baird's Sparrow this morning around 9:30 am on the north side of Drennan Road, about 1/4 to 1/2 mile west of Hemmingway.
About 15 minutes later, we saw another one farther west, where there is a large patch of tall weeds on the south side of Drennan Rd. We also saw Cassins's Kingbirds in that area.
Both Hemmingway and Drennan had a lot of birds this morning!
